Zambia's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for millet ranged from 2,663 tonnes in 2007 to 5,751 tonnes in 2010. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 10.0% and 11.9%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest millet loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Zambia, on average the highest quantity of millet production occurs in Northern.
