Namibia's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for millet ranged from 520 tonnes in 2003 to 645 tonnes in 2004. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 4.2% and 4.3%. The largest losses in USD were estimated to have occurred in 2021 with a value of over 708 thousand USD.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest millet loss is estimated to be happening at Transport from field. In Namibia, on average the highest quantity of millet production occurs in Otjozondjupa.
