Guinea's estimated postharvest losses for fonio in 2005 was 54,063 tonnes or 11.7%.
In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Threshing and Shelling, and then Winnowing. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Labé.
