Tanzania, Millet, 2004

Tanzania's estimated postharvest losses for millet in 2004 was 27,602 tonnes or 10.8%.

As for nutrition 99 billion kcal were lost, which is the equivalent of more than 120 thousand people, in terms of annual nutritional dietary energy requirements. In the value chain, the majority of the loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying, Transport from field, and then Winnowing. Highest estimated postharvest maize losses in tonnes were estimated to occur in Ruvuma.
