Gambia's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for fonio were 34 tonnes and have not changed over the time covered by Aphlis. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 11.7%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest fonio loss is estimated to be happening at Threshing and Shelling. In Gambia, on average the highest quantity of fonio production occurs in Central River.
