Eritrea's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for teff ranged from 841 tonnes in 2003 to 2,369 tonnes in 2006. The estimated loss percentages have been unchanged over time at 11.7%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest teff loss is estimated to be happening at Threshing and Shelling. In Eritrea, on average the highest quantity of teff production occurs in Debub (Southern).
