Côte d'Ivoire's estimated postharvest losses in tonnes for maize ranged from 95,700 tonnes in 2007 to 115,146 tonnes in 2005. The estimated loss percentages fluctuated between 18.0% and 18.0%.
Within the value chain, the majority of the postharvest maize loss is estimated to be happening at Harvesting/field drying. In Côte d'Ivoire, on average the highest quantity of maize production occurs in Savanes. Regarding nutritional losses, the number of people whose annual energy (kcal) dietary requirements could have been met with the estimated maize lost postharvest ranged from 398,383 people in 2007 to 479,336 people in 2005.
